From noon until five o'clock an open house was held in the Frey home, where arrangements included rose buds and chrysanthemums in yellow and white carnations. The anniversary cake, a round four-tiered confection elaborately trimmed with gold beading and topped with a golden bell, was made especially for the event by Miss Gertrude Thevis, niece of Mrs. Frey. Among the many friends and relatives attending the occasion were those from out of town including from Rayne, Crowley, Eunice, Iota, Elton, Lafayette and Gueydan. Wednesday, January 23 at the Legion hospital in Crowley. The Besse baby weighed in at five four ounces and has been named Susan Elizabeth. She is welcomed by two brothers, Danny and Al, and her paternal grandfather, Dave Besse, Sr. Mrs. Besse is the former Elsie Jane Boudreaux.

The daughter of the Geers, Deborah Ann, weighed in at five pounds, five ounces and is welcomed by a sister, Joy- The paternal grandfather, who is from Pennsylanvia, is presently visiting in the Geer home. Mrs. Geer is the former Joycelyn Boudreaux. Mrs. August Leonards Named President Of 4 Mowata Altar Society Mowata (Spl) Mrs.

August Leonards was named president of the St. Lawrence Altar Society at their quarterly meeting held Sunday. Others elected to serve with her were Mrs. Frank Zaunbrecher, vice-president; Miss Helen Rein-res, secretary; Miss Patsy Leonards, assistant secretary. All members received communion in a body at mass Sunday.

Tommy Wade Huesers Born Wednesday In Lafayette The arrival of a son on Wednesday, January 16 at the Lafayette sanitarium is announced by Mr. and Mrs. Michael Huesers. Named Tommy Wade, the baby weighed in at eight pounds, six ounces, and is welcomed by two sisters, Sandra and Patty Ann. The mother, who will be remembered as the former Ruby Faulk, and baby are doing fine.

'I Harry Lynn German $0 Born Sunday In Nacogdoches, Tex. Mr. and Mrs. H. L.

German are the parents of a son, Harry Lynn, born Sunday, January 27 at the City Memorial hospital of Nacogdoches, Tex. Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. J. D.

German of Many and maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Wild of Midland.

Mrs. German is the former Barbara Elizabeth Wild. Son Born To Ersin Lavergnes At Legion Hospital Rayne (Spl) A son, weighing in at six pounds, seven ounces, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Ersin Laver-gne at the Legion Memorial hospital Saturday, Jan.

19. The Lavergnes have another son and two daughters. Grandmothers are Mrs. Tonis Lavergne and Mrs. Honora Comeaux.

Frey is at Fort Belvoir, Va. Birth Of Twins Announced By Tom Tolsons Church Point (Spl) Announcement has been made of the birth of twins a boy and a girl, to Mr. and Mrs. Tom Tolson of Long-street. Born Monday, January 7, the little girl, named Mary Lou, weighed in at six pounds, eight ounces and the young man, Tom, weighed seven pounds, four ounces.

Paternal grandmother is Mrs. T. T. Tolson, who is well-known here, being the wife of the late Dr. Tolson, who practiced in Church Point for many years.

The twins are welcomed by a sister, Martha. George A. Hoffpauirs Welcome Second Son At Georgia Hospital News has been received here of the birth of a seven pound, six ounce son to Sgt. and Mrs. George A- Hoffpauir of Columbus, Sunday at 8 p.

m. at the Fort Ben-ning hospital. The baby is welcomed by. a brother, Albert Samuel, and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.

R. Harvey Hoffpauir of Ebenezer and Mr. and Mrs. E. B.

Weldon of Sugar-tawn. Charles Gossens Welcome Son At Lafayette Hospital Rayne (Spl) Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gossen announce the arrival of an eight pound son born Thursday, January 17 at Our Lady of Lourdes hospital in Lafayette. The new baby has been given the name of Charles Timothy.

Maternal grandfather is C. F. Dawson of California and paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Will Gossen of Rayne.

Both baby and mother, the former Helen Dawson, are doing fine. Mr. and Mrs. John Frey, who were married January 29, 1902 in St. Leo's Catholic church in Roberts Cove, by Father Elaciaus, renewed their vows on the 50th anniversary of their wedding Tuesday morning at a mass at St.

Lawrence! Catholic church in Mowata. Rev. Father Joseph LaFleur, pastor, officiated at the eight o'clock mass, with Father Fabacher, cousin of Mr. Frey, as deacon; Father Ohlen-forst, grandnephew of Mrs. Frey, as subdeacon, and Father Brown served in the sanctuary.

Mrs. Frey, who is now 70 years old, was born Lambertena Heinen in Germany, and Mr. Frey, who is 74, was born in Frey. Attendants for the couple at their wedding 50 years ago were Mrs. Joe Neu of Roberts Cove, sister of the bride, maid of honor; Albert Frey of Iota, brother of the groom, best man; Mrs.

Jack Pousson of Iota, sister of the groom, bridesmaid, and the late Joe Heinen, brother of the bride, groomsman. For the Tuesday mass Mr. and Mrs. Frey entered the church as their granddaughter, Miss Patsy Leonards, rendered the Coronation March at the organ, and Miss Edna Bollich sang Panis Angelicus. Prior to the mass Miss Edna Zaunbrecher, grandniece of the couple, pang Mothej at Your Feet We're Kneeling, and church choir members sang, appropriate hymns during the services.

The honored couple were followed by their five daughters and their husbands, Mr. and Mrs. August Leonards, Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Leonards, Mr.

and Mrs. Nick Zaunbrecher, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Zaunbrecher and Mr. and Mrs.

-Frank Zaunbrecher. They have 38 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. The couple's only son, Joseph, was lost in the Pacific theatre while serving with the Army during World War II. For this special occasion Mrs. Frey wore a dress of black and white print and her orchid corsage was effectively arranged with golden maline.

She carried a crystal and gold rosary, while Mr. Frey had a rosary in black and gold, both these being gifts of their daughters. All five daughters wore corsages of yellow mums tied with gold satin ribbon. The church was decorated with arrangements of yellow gladioli Sunday Afternoon Vows Unite Willa Mae Mier And. Dewey Venable Rayne (Spl) In a Sunday afternoon ceremony at two o'clock Miss Willa Mae Mier, daughter of Mrs.

Alphine Leger of Rayne, and Dewey Venable, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph- Venable of Bosco, were united in marriage. Vows were impressively read by Father Louis Bertrand at the Assumption church in Bosco, the altar being banked with, camellias for this ceremony. Baskets filled with camellias were placed at either side of the entrance to the Traditional nuptial music was by Mrs.

Mouton of Duson, organist, who also- accompanied Mrs. El-dridge Lagneaux as she sang Ave Maria during the signing. Elton "brother of the gave his sister in marriage. The bridal gown was of white lace over satin in ballerina length styled with scalloped neckline and long fitted sleeves, the basque bodice being buttoned to the waist with self-covered buttons. The tea longth veil of illusion was held with a wreath of orange blossoms designed of seed pearls and the ensemble was completed with a pearl necklace, a gift of the groom, and matching earrings.

The bride carried a white prayer book topped with a small arrangement of Vanda orchids in lavender and white carnations. The maid of honor, Miss Bonnie Venable, sister of the groom, chose gown of cinnamon brown slipper satin in ballerina length, the scalloped neckline being accentuated with a yoke of matching lace and the elbow length sleeves having effective bows. She' wore a Juliet cap to match trimmed in lace, a pearl necklace and earrings and carried a nosegay of vari-colored blooms entwined with rainbow shaded ribbons. Other attendants were Misses Joyce Cormier, cousin of the bride, and Goldie Mier, cousin of the groom. Their gowns of emerald green satin were designed identical to the maid of honor as were their caps and nosegays.

They also wore pearl necklaces and earrings. Lurney Lyons served the groom as best man and the groomsmen were Louis Miller and Oran Richard. The reception to honor the couple followed the church ceremony and was held at the Mier gym in Bosco with members of the bridal party receiving guests. For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Leger wore a gabardine suit in slate gray with green and black accessories and pink carnations in corsage, while the mother was attired in jet black gabardine with pink and black accessories and pink carnation corsage.

Special guests were Mrs. Reo Mier, the bride's grandmother; Mrs. Ophe Prejean, maternal grandmother of the groom Mrs. Louis Venable, paternal grandmother of the groom. The tables were laid with white cloths, and camellias were used in decorating.

One table held the tiered wedding confection flanked by- crystal candelabra with white tapers and the other held two punch services in1 crystal. At the cake was Mrs. Mier, and presiding at the punch bowls were Mrs. Exato Giroud, Mrs. Theresa Richard and Mrs.

Clesma Cormier. Misses Shelby Prejean and Dale Cormier were tea girls. Out of town guests were from Lafayette, Opelousas, Sunset, Rayne, Carencro, Lake Charles and Scott. For travel the bride changed to a suit of navy gabardine with red and blue accessories. After a wedding trip to Biloxi, the couple will reside in Rayne, the groom being employed as bartender at Beau Freres.

The bride is a graduate of Rayne High school and is employed by Mervine Kahn Company, while the groom, a graduate of Rayne High school, attended SLI. Junior CD A Court Organized In Iota Saturday Morning Iota (Spl) A new court of Junior Catholic Daughters of America was organized in the parish of St. Joseph's Catholic Church on Saturday. The ceremonies began with attendance at Mass, and receiving of Communion in a body by the twelve candidates. Counselors for the group are Mrs.

Ella Mae Clement and Miss Marcelle Menou, members of the local Court St. Francis 1519. Following the Mass, the candidates, Father Charles Marin, and several mothers, were served breakfast in the school lunchroom by members of the CD A Court. Members of the Junior Catholic Daughters of America Court from Eunice were in charge of the inia-tion ceremonies. The following members from the Eunice Court performed the duties: Mrs.

Al-gire Guillory, district chairman; President Lorraine Launey; Vice-President Jane Andrus, Secretary Norma Jane Lejeune, Reporter Jane Guilliard, Jackie Bergeron, Seraphia Deville, Dianne Fuselier, Wanda Miller, Yvonne Huckaby, Gloria O'Brien, Thelma McCauley, Dorothy Bihm; and Ruth Hay. Following the initiation, refreshments were served to the following new members" of the Junior CDA from Iota;" Sue- McFarland, Hen- rietta Boudier, Janet and Janice Lejeune, Elaine Sittig, Margaret Sensat, Rebecca Sue Clement, Donna Day Regan, Michaeline Regan, Sylvia Cart, Maxine Simar, and Georgella Miller. The Junior CDA organization, for Catholic girls between the ages of 12 and 18, deals principally with the spiritual welfare of the individual, but the organization carries on many projects, and has some social functions. February Bride-Elect Guest Of Honor For Saturday Tea Shower Jtayne (Spl) Miss Bess Cunningham, whose wedding to William Wallace of Lake Charles has been planned for Saturday, February 9, was named guest of honor for a Saturday afternoon tea shower in the home of Daboval with Mrs. Daboval, Mrs.

Roy L. Smith, Mrs. Dan Daboval, Mrs. Paul Lasseigne and Mr a. William Scbonier, as hostesses.

Camellias provided the decorative theme for the evening with gracious arrangements of the Blooms used throughout the home. In the dining room the table was cverlaid with a cut-work cloth and centered Svith an arrangement of pink perfection camellias in a silver tray, triple candelabra in silver wih pink tapers being used at side as were the silver The five hostesses alternated in the receiving line and also greeting guests was Miss Cunningham, who lor the occasion wore a beautiful town of blue silk shantung with standaway collar and portrait neckline, the sweeping skirt drape being held with a rhinestone ornament. She used rhinestone earrings and necklace and. her corsage was of pink perfection camellias, presented by the hostesses. Mrs.

Sam Wallace of Lake Charles, mother of the groom, was lovely a champagne beige silk shantung gown worn with harmonizing accessories and corsage of purple dawn camellias, while Mrs. J. M. Cunningham, the bride's mother, chose a black crepe creation designed with yoke in a soft blue tone, her corsage also being of a purple dawn camellia, these came blooms being used by the hostesses and members of the. house party corsages.

Quests were -greeted in the gift room by Miss Nellie Cunningham, aunt of the bride, who was in charge of the guest book. at the refreshment service during the reception hours were Mrs. Carl Curtis, Miss Jane Soileau, Mrs. William Sonnier, Mrs. Marvin Cunningham of Lafayette, Mrs.

Barney S. Foreman and Mrs. Nick Dischler. Tea girls were Margo Daboval, Betty Ann Smith, Mrs. Fair King, Elizabeth Curtis and Mrs.

Lucille Schlicher of Crowley. Out of town guests in addition the-groom's mother were Mrs. John Paul Jones, Mrs. James J. Wallace of Lake Charles, Miss Bess Tbler Mrs.

Keith And Phillip Barousse Celebrate Birthdays At Party "The two sons of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Barousse, Keith and Phillip1, celebrated their birthdays jointly with a social Saturday at 3:30 o'clock in the afternoon at the Episcopal parish house.

gay program- of entertainment which held' the interest of the guests was planned by the hostess and included a toe dance by Hanisee and acrobatic number by Mary Lucille Andrus with Miss Kay McGinn as their accompanist at the piano. Mrs. Constantin and Miss McGinn also rendered several enjoyable piano Keith, who was five years old Phillip, who was four, were dressed as cowboys for their party.

The refreshment table had a large cake inscribed with the names of the two honores as the tenter and was completed with arrangements of narcissus and red camellias and red tapers. The hostess with the assistance of Mrs. Mitchell John, Mrs. Max Kober, Mrs. William Tuthill presented favors of bubble gum and candy and served cake and ice cream.

Bonin At "Nuptial Mass Rayne (Spl) Miss Mary Janet Langlinais, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Ivy Langlinais, was given in marriage by her father at a nuptial mass Tuesday morning at nine o'clock in the morning at St. Joseph's Catholic church, when she became the bride of Jack Octave Bonin, son of Mrs.

Mayme Bonin. Rt. Rev. Msgr. Hubert Lerschen, pastor, was celebrant of the mass and read the double ring vows before the altar which held arrangements of white gladioli and white tapers in golden The organist, Roman Woleny, rendered Lohengrin's for the pio-cessional and Mendelssohn's for the recessional while solos were by Emile Daboval, who sang Panis Angel icus and Miss Manette Daboval who rendered Millard's Ave Maria with the of Mrs.

Ed Bertrand. The bridal outfit was a very chic dressmaker suit in Cotillion blue gabardine worn with a silver gray silk blouse, silver straw hat and gray accessories. She carried a mother of pearl prayer book and crystal rosary and wore a single white orchid in corsage. Miss Patricia Langlinais, as the only attendant to her sister, wore a blush pink gabardine suit with sky blue hat trimmed in. lilac blooms and corsage of bachelor buttons.

She carried a white prayer book and blue rosary. Anthony Raymond, served as best man to the groom. At the reception given following the ceremony at the Rayne community center the bride and groom, bridesmaids, Mrs. Bonin and Mrs. Langlinais received.

A suit of navy faille with pink straw hat, and navy and pink accessories was worn by the mother of the bride with a corsage of pink feathered carnations while the groom's mother wore a corsage of yellow daffodils to accentuate her ensemble of black silk worn with black straw sailor style hat and black accessories. A hand embroidered imported cut-work cloth was laid on the table which held clustered nosegays at the four corners and the five tiered cake as the centerpiece, this being topped with a miniature bride and groom and surrounded by fluted maline strayed with white carnations. White streamers cascaded from the lighted white tapers which were placed in silver candelabra flanking the cake to the camellia hose-gays A console arrangement of white camellias centered the table which was laid with a linen cloth and held the silver services. At the coffee services were Mrs. Aubrey Leger and Mrs.

Frank Bass, while at the cake presided Mrs. Tony Privat. Assisting in serving were Mrs. Anthony Raymond, Miss Mae Hebert, Mrs. Grant Link, Mrs.

Harry Kurtz and Mrs. Sara Savoie. After a wedding trip to Florida the couple will make their home at 602 North Polk st. The groom is employed as sales representative by Stamm-Scheele and prior to her marriage the bride was secretary in the law office of A. C.
